Chandeliers for dining rooms, living rooms and entryways

Over a dining table, choose a linear or multi-light chandelier that adds light across the whole surface. In a living room or entryway, a round or multi-ring design draws the eye and brightens the space. Semi flush chandeliers give you the same look when ceilings are lower.

Sizing and hanging height

For a dining table, pick a chandelier about one half to two thirds of the table's width. Hang it roughly 30 to 36 inches above the tabletop so it lights the table without blocking views across it. In an entryway or stairwell, allow at least 7 feet of clearance underneath.

Finishes and light

Gold and brass finishes add warmth. Black metal gives an industrial feel. Natural materials such as rattan, wood and stone bring in texture. Many models use dimmable LED light, so you can set the mood easily.
