Pendant lights for kitchen islands and dining tables

Over a kitchen island, pendants give clear light for cooking and serving. Hang them about 30 to 36 inches above the counter and space them 24 to 30 inches apart. Over a dining table, one large pendant or a row of linear fixtures lights the table evenly.

Beyond the kitchen

A pair of pendants on each side of a bed frees up nightstand space. In a hallway or café, a single statement pendant adds personality. In a reading corner, a hanging light gives a warm, focused glow.

Materials and finishes

Choose rattan and bamboo for a boho look. Stone and travertine suit wabi-sabi and minimalist interiors. Colorful glass and macaron-style shades add a playful note. Many styles include dimmable LED light.
